How to Stop Them

  1. Emotions are born to be experienced.

  2. When they aren’t, they get suppressed into the subconscious mind.

  3. The subconscious mind will do everything in its power to create scenarios for suppressed emotions to be experienced.

  4. If emotions are stuffed back into the subconscious, painful repeating patterns will occur.

  5. Suppressed emotions can be released in deep states of meditation, thereby ending repeating patterns of pain.

One World Academy on Love and Relationships

Spirituality, Meditation and Energy Healing

One World Academy on Love and Relationships

As a spiritual healer, I’ve worked with many people over the years who have suffered enormously at the hands of a failed relationship.  There’s no doubt, relationships will be catalysts to help us experienced the deepest areas that need healing in our lives.  Fear, anger, betrayal, sadness, loneliness, rejection, etc., etc., etc.  And most of it’s based in the past.

So if relationships bring up so much unresolved grief, why even bother?

Because relationships can also give us a brush with Divinity.  It’s called Love.

The following video is from India’s One World Academy on the sacredness of relationships.

Intuition vs. Mind

Most people know what the word intuition means, but a common question is how to tell the difference between intuition and the ramblings of your mind.  This is an important question because when you easily recognize and react to your intuition, you are able to create and inspire beauty, passion, and peace in your world.  Thus, understanding the difference between intuition and ego helps you make the very most of your experiences and give your very best to those whom you love.

Intuition comes from the spirit, and your spirit is connected to the energy of the Divine.  Because of this connection, your spirit can reach across distance and time; it has the answers to every question that you could ever think to ask.  Even in times when your mental and physical sight is limited or distorted, your spirit sees everything clearly.   Intuition is a moment of tapping into that infinite source of knowledge.  The intuitive person gathers otherwise inaccessible information from this field of energy, sometimes consciously and other times unconsciously, and uses it to make decisions or to inspire creativity.

Girl and cloudUsually, when someone is confused about whether a particular insight is really intuition, it’s because the information the spirit whispers is being slightly altered as it is interpreted through the mind.  They are unconsciously adjusting these messages so that they align with the assumptions and expectations that they have built about reality.  This can happen to anyone; it is what the ego does best.   It skews your perception to justify the beliefs that you already hold.

These are the moments when you experience doubt; you find yourself asking whether a certain bit of insight was really intuition or just your mind.  You become unsure of what to trust.  In extreme cases, this confusion can lead to dangerous and destructive behaviors.   In most cases; however, it just causes a little bit of uncertainty.  And this uncertainty, when left unresolved, can slowly but surely begin to interfere with your faith.  Or at the very least it can prevent you from acting on what your spirit is trying to tell you.

The best way to avoid this kind of confusion is by regularly cleansing your perception, and this can be done with regular meditation.  Regular meditation helps you learn how to focus the mind in such a way that you can receive information without giving it meaning.  You are able to accept things as they are rather than as you expect them to be; you begin hearing the whispers of the spirit without the distortion of your mental interpretation.  With practice, you will become familiar with the feeling of pure spirit.  And this familiar feeling is how you know the difference between intuition and the mind.

Intuition feels uplifting, freeing, and natural.  The information comes from deep within you, not from observations and interpretations of what is around you. The actions that intuition leads you towards serve a purpose rooted in intrinsic passion, not external rewards or punishments.   Because of the purity of real intuition, doubt disintegrates and you feel a sense of confident direction.   Simply put, intuition feels honest, pure, simple, and passionate.  It rises from the deepest part of your being and the outside implications are secondary.  This feels quite different from the tendency of the mind to start from the outside and work its way in.

The more that you invest in your spiritual practice, the clearer the messages of the spirit will be; your intuition will be easier to identify.  This is because your spiritual practice prevents the kind of cognitive build-up that distorts and confuses those messages; more spiritual awareness whittles down the ego’s influence.  Your intuition becomes clearer, stronger, and more frequent.  When you find yourself unsure of whether you are feeling the pull of the spirit or the murmurings of the mind, take a moment and be still.  Quiet your mind and focus on the energy of the Divine; let go of motives and expectations and just be still.  Re-acquaint yourself with the clear, simple energy of your spirit.  Let that feeling guide you and you will find perfect peace that allows you to move confidently forward.

A Spiritual Satire – The Fab Five (minus two)

Spirituality, Meditation and Energy Healing

A Spiritual Satire – The Fab Five (minus two)

In my last blog, The Power of Bob, I stumbled on to a meditation group led by a genuine modern-day-Jesus, by the name of Bob.  Part of Bob’s following was composed of a ragtag bunch of misfits, I lovingly referred to as the B-squad.  Today, I pick up at Bob’s next gathering.

After that last meditation, I had a stretch of tough luck at the dog track and owed a few shekels to a less-than-savory fellow.  I was in desperate need of some quick cash.  So I approached Bob to see if he could spin a little miracle on my cash flow.

He was delighted and said, Most certainly!   However, I can see you have the capacity to judge in your heart.  That needs to be healed first.  However, you can rapidly accelerate the healing process.  All you need to do is simply become acquainted with a few from the B-Squad, as you call them.  Then, I’ll help you with your finances.

My first resistant inclination was, No way.  Stupid.  Forget it.  I’m outta here.

Then I thought, Geez, I guess that is rather judgmental.  Figuring my finances (and very possibly my knee caps) were on the line, I reconsidered.  Well, okay then…Maybe he’s right…Gawd!…I really hate spiritual lessons.

I had to muster my courage but I finally got the nerve to introduce myself around to Bob’s B-squad.  They took me right in.  The total number of the sub-sect, I previously and judgmentally referred to as losers, fluctuated between twelve and twenty souls.  Most of them were nice, rather ordinary people who tried to find meaning in life by giving their personal power away to a spiritual cult.  Quite honestly, they would have made very boring reading.  So I’ve focused on five that stand out, head and shoulders, above the rest.  I call them the Fab Five.  Meet the first three.

Moonbeam

Hopefully you’ve already had the opportunity to meet the sweetie pie, Moonbeam, in The Enlightenment of Moonbeam.   She’s a gem, the princess of the B-squad.

 Chavey Warren

Chavey cartoonAfter I met Moonbeam, she introduced me to a guy by the name of Chavey Warren.  He was an overly enthusiastic MLM sales rep, hot on Ultra Pure Electro-ionized Water Systems.  He proclaimed just one sip of water run through one of his super-charged filters rendered every imaginable cure known to mankind obsolete.  As an extra added bonus, he declared, the water treated with his Electro-ionized Systems becomes so amped up, you can even run small appliances with it.  Not to mention, it can also polish silver.

God’s honest truth.  Look, he said, It’s all right here!, as he shoved a brochure into my hand.

The pamphlet featured photographs of prize winning pumpkins. The little shriveled up one was raised on tap water.  The gigantic one next to it was raised on Ultra Pure Electro-ionized Water Systems and weighed in at 1300 pounds.  The mammoth beast even captured the blue ribbon from the County Fair!

Then Chavey incessantly went on about Jerry Stubblefield, a classmate of his from 3rd grade.  Did you know Stubbs?  He was a big boy.  I mean a BIG boy.  He could have scored a blue ribbon at the County Fair all by himself.  Ya know why?  Diet.  That’s right, diet.  Stubbs was raised mostly on Sugar Pops and Wendy’s drive-thru.  But most importantly, all he drank was tap water.

As I hurriedly turned away, Chavey grabbed me by the arm and thrust out his his chest, proudly announcing,  Not anymore!  Every since I got Stubbs on Ultra Pure Electro-ionized Water Systems he morphed into a 3-time world triathlon champ.  I’m telling ya, these filters do miracles.  Just like our meditation leader, Bob.  In fact, the main reason I come to these mediation meetings is to get Bob to sign up as a rep underneath me.  I’m sure he’ll be excited about the thrilling incentive structure and exponential bonus plans.

I didn’t know what to do so I said, Okay, Chavey.  Whatever.  Then, I went on to buy a case of filters just to shut him up.  He put them in the trunk of my car.  They’re still there.

Lenny VanSyklen

Lenny cartoonNext, I met Lenny VanSyklen from Time Machine International.  I swiped this dated photo from his high school year book.  He was a senior.  As far as I can tell, he was and is, a dead ringer for a cross between Woody Allen and Pee Wee Herman.  When I met him, I assumed he ran out of dental floss.

I was a bit put off by Lenny’s gingivitis, so Chavey gave me the inside scoop.  Looking guilty and talking out to the side of his mouth, Chavey said,  I don’t take no stock in rippin’ people behind their backs ‘cuz I’m tryin’ to be spiritual and all.  But I have to take exception for Lenny.  He’s a total whack job.  He thinks he’s here from the future and is invisibly radiating Divine grace to everyone at Bob’s meditation gatherings.  He’s a computer geek who invented this time machine, which I have yet to see work.  He also started an international “science” club with an MLM incentive pyramid.  The club’s a joke but he does have an interesting sales plan with some nifty perks.

Since I was in the spirit of adventure, I went to a ‘Science Forum’ at Lenny’s house.  It turned out to be an excessively pushy sales meeting, fueled up with over-zealous science (fiction).  He said if I signed up under him, right now, I’d be an instant Level 2 Science Supervisor.  All I needed to do was buy twenty time machines to sell to my future ex-friends.  Then I’d have a shot at an exotic science vacation, like touring NASA or visiting the space ride at Disney World.

The only way I managed to escape the meeting was by jumping out of the bathroom window.  No joke.  I was paying some hard-earned dues.  It was Bob’s attempt to get me to stop judging a bunch of knuckle-dragging jackasses.

Meet the rest next week…

Dedicated to those of us who can take our spirituaity a little too seriously at times

Portia SLB and the Science of Being – What To Do When People Piss Us Off

Spirituality, Meditation and Energy Healing

I’m proud to announce Portia SLB from Science of Being as my guest blogger today.

They Test our Patience!

We’ve all been there. Some people just have a knack for pissing us off! For example, we can get our dander up if we feel we have been insulted and fire back with an insult of our own. It can circle around and get worst. Most of us are unaware that the real source of our uneasiness is from fear that is rooted in the subconscious. It can grow there unnoticed only to resurface sooner or later as contentious emotions like anger, apprehension, worry, and hatred causing us bigger problems, even physical illness. Until we consciously address fearful emotions they will continue to plague us making us hard or anxious. They become habitual, part of our personality and disposition.  And, we can lose a sense of our True Self.

So What Can We Do?

Journey_Teaser_GraphicWe can release fear-based emotions through meditation and a skilled therapist, yet there will be occasions at work, at home, or while we are standing in line somewhere, when someone triggers an uneasy feeling in us.What do we do? It’s a matter of mental regulation – recognizing that every unpleasant emotion as an opportunity to refine ourselves, to come closer to our True Self and Love.  Think of unpleasant encounters as spiritual opportunities and synchronicity, where nothing happens by chance. It’s an opportunity we have set up for ourselves to release the burdens of the subconscious and align with our True Self.

How to Start

Chakra_WomanWhen you start to feel some uneasiness, be fully conscious in the moment. Pause your thinking, take a deep breath, relax and quiet the mental chatter; be still. Consider making the Mental Contact with Universal Life Energy (Cosmic Energy, chi, prana, Life Force) to help you relax and refocus.

Once a feeling of calm and Harmony begins to pervade the mind and emotions, say in a soft voice: “I am One with Universal Life Energy. It is flowing through me now….

Be the ‘watcher of the thinker’ from a higher consciousness. Impersonally observe your body language and facial expressions. Observe your thoughts and attitude, drawing them into you and feeling them fully without any harsh judgment.

Be courageous and very sincere in your examination. Sincerity opens our heart and mind to the inspiration of our Higher Self. Keep in mind that people who challenge us emotionally are on a spiritual journey also, searching for ways to release the burden of the subconscious. Think of them as facilitators of spiritual synchronicity.

A Deeper Understanding

The reasoning, conscious mind can go only so far in understanding. That’s when we reach for inspiration from our Higher Self by asking questions of ourselves. For example, if you are conscious of experiencing impatience in the moment, look up within and ask deeper questions like:

▪Why am I feeling impatient?

▪Why is it so important to me that I am attached to it?

And, to the heart of the matter:

▪Am I reacting this way because I feel unloved or unloving?

▪Am I coming from a place of fear or love in my heart?

We are motivated by either of two base emotions – love or fear. When we ask such questions of ourselves with deep sincerity we will begin to feel a change in our attitude. The emotion of sincerity and desire for Truth opens the door to Love within us. The illusionary temptation of the negative emotion will begin to disperse.

Yet, we will still move in our thinking and emotions, therefore, you can further abet release of the temptation by:

▪Opening ourselves to a positive emotion like gratitude; gratitude that we’ve gained some insight. A positive emotion negates a negative one.

▪Changing our body language which can help us move into a positive emotion. Moving can disperse hormonal chemicals like adrenaline. It can take up to 90 seconds ——— to disperse negative energy, which is why some people jog or exercise, to help release stress. We can physically walk away to a quite place so we can better focus on our objective of Self knowledge.

▪Manifesting a positive emotion physically in our behavior like a kind word, a smile or stillness.

See the Divine

The subconscious ego judges harshly and blames, because fear supports those emotional judgments. The most beneficial thing we can do in a stressful encounter with someone is to make a sincere effort to see the Divine in them.

Inspiration-FaceWhen we see the Divine in another we are also invoking the power to see the Divine within ourselves! A thought of Love and connection to Harmony destroys negative thoughts within us and we will feel a relief.

When we choose Love we are transforming our thought process in our everyday life from fear to Love, thereby, breaking addictive, fearful patterns. This frees us from fixed ideas about attack, retaliation, correction and other fearful defenses.

If we approach everyone and every situation with an attitude of love, consideration, friendship, gentleness, and patience we will be happier for it.

In the hope You find Love close at hand, Portia SLB

Best Selling Author, Ariaa Jaeger on Aging Beautifully in the 21st Century

Today, I’m honored to announce guest blogger, Ariaa Jaeger.  Ariaa is a spiritual mentor, best selling author and singer.  She has also been featured in high-profile media outlets such as CNN and The Huffington Post.

Aging in the twenty-first century is an interesting prospect. With so many available surgical procedures, Botox and fillers and non-invasive procedures like lasers, facials and other skin stimulating treatments, it is a wonder anyone over 50 has even a small wrinkle.

There are two sides in the aging debate; one, pull it, pluck it, tuck it, suck it, pin it, thin it, fill it, dye it and cut it. Then there are those who for financial reasons, commonsensical reasons or just plain self-contentment reasons subscribe to the notion that fighting gravity is futile and aging with grace is the road to ultimate fulfillment. I am of that mindset.

There was a time I thought that I might venture down the non-invasive path when the signs of aging had finally overtaken my face but now that I am there, on the cusp of what was once considered old, I am completely at peace with the process. I refuse to bend to society and its narcissistic need to make everyone look perfect. I refuse to look in the mirror and dislike or condemn myself. I refuse to let what society thinks turn me into a paranoid old lady wondering how people perceive me or worse, an insignificant wallflower ignored by society. I refuse to be like everyone else who thinks that by fixing their chin or eyes that no one will have a clue how old they are. I refuse to be relegated to sitting and knitting as the world around me spins.

I celebrate the last year of my fifties with glee because I survived more than I ever thought I would or could. I celebrate every gray hair as it reminds me of my old friend, the silver lining, which has shown up in my life right after every major storm and there have been so many. I celebrate every wrinkle and every smooth spot knowing that soon they will merge and all the lines of my life and every path I took will envelop my face. I celebrate the sags the bags the bum drop, the ski slopes, the liver spots and waning vision as I know it is my time to multiply and exercise what cannot be seen. I had my youthful day in the sun but sunsets are so much grander and they are the gateway to the stars.
