Why do I do the same stupid things over and over again?

Many common autopilot behaviors that produce stress in our bodies and minds are the result of of unexperienced emotion (pain, fear, stress, etc.) that gets suppressed into the subconscious mind.  This happens without awareness or intention on our part.  Most all of this emotion is based somewhere in our past, commonly in childhood.

When emotion is suppressed into the subconscious, the subconscious mind will try to help us release the emotion by creating situations for us to experience it.  Because when we experience any emotion fully, it will essential dissipate into the ether.  If the stressful emotion is avoided (something we all do naturally) it will be suppressed back into the subconscious mind. Then we’ll start to see repeating, stressful, autopilot behaviors over and over again.

Some universal emotions that cause these stressful patterns include: abandonment,  fear, unworthiness, grief, and resistance.

Once we become aware of subconsciously suppressed emotion and the painful repeating patterns they cause, we can take active steps to heal the subconscious. There are numerous techniques to accomplish this, but each healing technique is essentially a tool to accesses the subconscious mind.  Some of these modalities include Guided Meditation, Hypnotherapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and Energy Healing.
